Ultimate Madoka is now complete! At least, I hope so. I may go back and do another layer of paint to smooth out the background.

I like the background, you said you wanted to smooth it out, I don't know. I like the life it has. It might just be me but that's what I love about watery coloring, it's like it has a life of it own. Use the ability of the tools you have.
I also think it's a bit interesting that the girls is not in the center, you could probably move her even more to the left. It's the golden section. What I think you've done great is how you've brought the character to the front. You look at the person. She is much more lighter than the background so you look at her especially her face/hands, well done!
If it's okay by you I'll talk a little about coloring. Some tips I've been given by my teachers ^^' First try to use the primer colors, you could just doodle with them and experiment with the mixture and do some random colors. (Usually one have more than just three or four colors when coloring with water colors however). Anyways, what's important with the primer colors, is that it's easier to find the complementary colors. Why is this important, well they bring each other out more. Also if a light is yellow for example the shadow is not a darker color of the object nor is it black, it's the complementary color of yellow~
(and of course it still has the original color too) So experiment! Don't be shy with art, try to do many things!
